| I am a fine art photographer who also shoots images for editorial and advertising assignments. My images document the habits, rituals and beliefs that people rely on. They are simple stories, exploring reoccurring patterns in our human existence. I am a partial observer, fascinated by the magic and mystery of everyday life. I am especially interested in the expereinces that people have in the presence of food. Food is an important catalyst for so many of life's great themes and it lends itself to vast symbolism and interpretations. Though my technique may first be perceived as strictly reportage, constructed situations, and other selective techniques are sometimes utilized to skew the viewers perception, creating scenes that are at the same time real and fabricated. I was born in Columbus, Ohio in 1968 and received my BFA from the Columbus College of Art & Design in 1991. I then moved to Tucson, Arizona and started working at the groundbreaking Swanstock Agency as part of their creative team. While there, I worked alongside the world's top fine art photographers, photography editors and art directors and gained extensive experience working with clients from concept through publication. Clients include: Random House, Knopf, Simon & Schuster, Canyon Ranch, NBC/Universal, Epicurious.com, U.S. News and World Report, American Airlines and the White House.
